Hal Jordan was a test pilot when a dying alien, Abin Sur, entrusted him with a power ring and responsibility for Earth’s sector. The ring made Hal part of the Green Lantern Corps, an interstellar force whose members use willpower to give their ideas physical form.
John Stewart started as a relief Lantern and grew into a Corps leader. His background as an architect shapes how he builds constructs, which is one of the clearest examples of how the same ring can look and feel different in different hands. The guide separates the people who carry the mantle from alternate realities and transformations.
